* 1-g.com
Welcome to 1-g
Number slash letter dot coms, like 1-g, are collectively refered to, in domain-speak, as N-L.coms. They have a kind of uniqueness and cool-factor that appeal to computer nerds with math backgrounds (like myself), web designers and domainers. I wouldn't say these kinds of addresses are expensive, but N-L.coms have been steadily increasing in value over the years which have made them a minor collectors item of sorts.
Other than that, they're not that useful. There are 260 N-L.coms in existence, ranging from 0-a.com to 9-z.com and not enough have been developed. However, as a programmer with an interest in design, I'm thinking that I might go against the trend and actually develop this one. If you have any ideas, let me know. For now, this place-setter will have to suffice while I have a think about it. :)
Design Notes
You'll have to forgive the lack-luster page appearance, but I've virtually given up trying to make web pages look acceptable in all browsers. It's simply not possible. Besides, these pages are merely place-setters until I can come up with something more permanent.
Anyway, if you're using Windows, this page is best viewed through a Safari Browser with the Quartz Engine running. On a Mac, it shouldn't matter. Under all circumstances, high pixel density (ppi) is preferable. Text-based webpages simply don't look right on any other setup.
I've thrown this two-page wonder together from scatch pretty quickly. Give me a bit more time and I'll see if I can improve things.
